Alexandre et Paul Margris
Based in Gennes-Ivergny, near Auxi-le-Château (Pas-de-Calais), Alexandre Margris is one of the best pigeon fanciers in France. His prize list says a lot about him: no less than nine national championship titles between 2010 and 2020. Discover our video interviews of Le Nordiste (at the bottom of the page 2 videos to discover!).
Alexandre Margris started pigeon racing at the age of 16. "I was still in high school. My parents were in charge of the pigeons during the week. But when I came home on Friday evening, I spent most of my time in the pigeon loft", he comments.
In 2006, he became champion Long distance old pigeon Nord - Pas-de-Calais at CALC organisation 700 members, which made him decide to spend his best pigeons in the breeding. "We really exploded from 2009, with a first classification in the French championship as vice-champion all categories", he adds. At the same time, he created and developed Mapp System, a programme for "managing the condition and shape of pigeons" using natural products "respecting and optimising the pigeon's metabolism", as indicated on the company's website.
In spite of the development that the company has undergone over the last few years, Alexandre Margris has not neglected his pigeons for all that. Far from it. "My life is punctuated by pigeons. It's a real pleasure, never a constraint. I would even say more: it's an art of living", underlines the man who, today, considers himself a little "privileged" to have such an ascent while having maintained himself "against all odds for the last ten years".
After having spoken to us about his installations and his colony, Alexandre Margris evokes this time in more detail the Mapp System adventure, which he considers as the extension of his commitment to French pigeon racing.
Holder of nine national championship titles between 2010 and 2020, he started pigeon racing at the age of 16, before "exploding" from 2009, with a first ranking in the French championship as vice-champion in all categories.
